Hay River offers a beautiful cross country ski experience Situated along the Mackenzie Highway, the golf club becomes a ski club in the winter months. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Northwest Territories, skiers can enjoy taking in breathtaking views of the winter wonderland as they make there way around the trail loops.

Equipment

The ski Chalet is available for day rental through the Hay River Ski Club. To learn more about equipment and ski membership please visit www.HayRiverSkiClub.com .

Rules of Ski Trail Use

  • No Snowmobiles
  • Follow trail signs & direction of travel
  • Do not bring dogs on the trail
  • Yield to faster skiers
  • No Snowshoes on set tracks
  • Do not walk on trails
  • Join the Hay River Ski Club to use the clubhouse
  • Non-members deposit a day use fee in box at trailhead

Non-Member Trail Fees

For access to the regular ski trail system, non-members pay a trail use fee of $10 per person (ski or snowshoe) and $5 per person for Dog Trail access (dog trail is designated). Please pay this day use fee at the trailhead.  

Annual Cross Country Ski Race in Hay River

The Hay River Ski Club holds a annual race event known as the ‘Pat Bobinski Memorial Ski Races (PABs) and NWT Ski Championships’ every March.  The PABs is a weekend event open to skiers of all ages and abilities, providing an opportunity for skiers across the NWT to meet, gain race experience, and have a good time!
